Its exotic setting and fascinating subject matter makes it compelling reading. To put it simply, the book wasn’t impactful at all and simply forgettable. I’ve always been a fan of Oriental historical fiction, since they are so much rich with beauty, so many elements and oriental flavor that is riveting to read about.


While she doesn’t use the phrase “resuce her reputation from history”, it does seem to a degree that Min is trying to do so.
